Anne Hoffman, RLA
SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

Anne's path to landscape architecture started with a love of many creative endeavors, as well as the natural world. From an early age, Anne had an interest in photography, especially exploring how the light fell on buildings and structures. She also had a strong connection to the outdoors, and a captivation with how and why the landscape was shaped the way it was. (Luckily, her father is a geologist, so answers to these questions were readily available.)

After obtaining a liberal arts degree at Colorado College, she focused on photography and graphic design, working at newspapers and as an art director in advertising. The three-dimensional design world still had a draw on her, and she started applying to graduate schools for architecture. While preparing for graduate school, Anne stumbled upon a landscape architecture class and found exactly what she wanted to do, so she returned to Colorado for her masters in landscape architecture. She worked at a variety of well-known landscape architecture firms around the Bay Area, and ran her own business while raising her children.

As a senior landscape architect, she is able to touch each part of a project. Her goal is to use design to enhance the story of the land and the lives of the clients. Helping clients envision how they can live on the land is very important to her. She enjoys working with the team because everyone has a different set of tools and a different background that they bring to Arterra.

In her free time, Anne finds ways to give back to her community, spends time with her family, and continues to work on photography. Her ideal day would be to weed and spend time in her garden until sunset.
