One of the landmark oaks shades the entrance to the home.

Goodrich Trail

As a country home graciously evolves with time, this new home in the Santa Lucia Preserve evokes a timeless quality. The composition of stone-clad and wood sided building wings creates a series of courtyards and gardens that take advantage of views, sunlight, and stately oaks.

Approaching the house, a series of outdoor rooms unfold in a welcoming scale. As the broad stone steps invite you in, a sunken courtyard fountain offers the delicate sound of water. Off the south wing, an intimate patio with a hot tub is tucked underneath the broad canopy of a coast live oak.

From here an arced path traverses the property, connecting entertainment spaces along the back of the house. A cozy entertainment area with a stone fireplace and outdoor kitchen extends the great room to the outside. Commanding the knoll above, a circular fire pit offers views of the meadow and distant canyon. The journey ends at the guest house and completes the composition of this family compound nestled in the oaks.

The pool reflects the blue sky, and the firepit was made from a reclaimed sugar bowl.
The buff-colored paving stones anchor a rustic seating area around the firepit.

The guesthouse has a strong western theme, inside and out, with a hitching post creating the railing for the front porch.
