TILTING TOWARD THE SKY
This home is a graceful dialogue between structure and site with house and landscape fluidly speaking the language of context. Angled roofs capture the verticality of the redwoods and distant views to the ridge beyond while courtyard walls, planters and gravel terrace anchor the lofty building into the land. The entry is choreographed to be an unveiling of experiences with concrete stepping pads lead rhythmically through a pair tall stone courtyard walls. Using the clues from the site, the planting palette is native driven; this indigenous planting style along with the courtyard fountain attract birds delighting our birdwatcher clients.
The result is a home and landscape that fully embodies the spirit of this unique environment.
